Why live in NPC controlled territory if the benefits of having sovereignty (eventually) outweighs NPC faction controlled space? What is it that makes you want to claim faction controlled space? It has worse ore than the other regions?"
What if you happen to live in unclaimed space and build infrastructure there, and then CCP staff decides to spawn a string of NPC stations overnight and put NPC faction in charge of it..?
It'll be just like in 'Nam!
Outpost overrun by clonevat tunnels.

And please, try to focus your criticism on the whole concept, not the fact that you think having to fly to the location is the only barrier - because it isn't, as can clearly be seen earlier in this thread - there are multiple barriers, none of which are not possible today.
The biggest change? You leave your implants in your old location. Is that the thing that prevents you from doing your suggested scenario today? Then think about the benefits this also gives.
Oveur is right, this will mean people are more likely to venture outside of our precious Empire to explore and risk an engagement. The fear of loosing implants is a major reason for people to stay in > .5 space.
As a carebear, I am excited about this change! No way I would mine low sec space right now. CanĘt wait to park a clone and a Covetor in a low sec system now for some pretty ore!
Also, I think more carebears will be willing to engage in wars with being able to store pricey implants away till the conflict is over.
I believe this allows more team activities too. Right now getting across empire takes forever. Invitations from far off friends have to be reluctantly turned down. Now we have the possibility to join in those activities once our clone is setup in the distant station with ships and equipment.
If I may toss in my two cents, I hope that within Empire, the jumping costs less. I also hope that short jumps are cheap once the destination clone is purchased. It would be nice to pop 6 jumps over to my favorite mining hole for an hour of mining then jump back to my factories before logging to check on my production.
Sorry but Oveur is not right, I consider myself a roleplayer and as such I frown on clonejumping. If I want to go someplace I at least let the guys trying to close it off have a shot at me going there. I never has clonejumped to save my life and won't start now either, it's a serious immersionbreaker.

I'd rather see jumpdrive capability on all ships than this fairy teleport system.

I mean come on nobody really enjoys going 30 jumps or there wouldnt be so much clone jumping, this is a PLAYER created thing that CCP is incorporating into the game.
Nobody other than gate campers can really be objecting to this.
Everyone should say TY and move on.

I do and I'm not a camper. Instant gratification = instant devaluation.
EVE is going from demanding mistress to cheap ****.
